In the Australian summer of 2016 -17 Geert flew to Thailand with his touring bike Trekky in the cargo hold. He started riding out of Bangkok [Krung Thep], and first rode West towards Kanchanaburi, then North all the way to Lampang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and to the Northern most town of Chiang Khong where he celebrated New Years eve with the locals. He then returned to Bangkok via the centre of the country through towns like Phrae and the sublime temple towns of Ayuthaya and Sukothai
